I Win
As I sit writing this, I'm reclining aboard Rob's sailboat in Berkeley Marina. We spent all day December 27 driving here after deciding on December 26, that we should come out here and work. When you can go to the Berkeley Marina to do intellectually stimulating work, you win. When your wife fixes you sandwiches for the road and blesses you as you go off to spend a weekend in Berkeley while she stays home to nest, you just sit back in awe at how lucky you are.
It's been a while since I wrote here last. An entire semester has passed. There were ups and downs. I didn't accomplish all I had hoped, and some things came out badly, but overall, it was good. My time is my own. My family is near. I have good friends, though some are sadly far away. I can see a good life in Tucson for a long time.
For the immediate present, I most focus on accomplishing two things. First, I need to complete my application for a fellowship. Second I need to study for my comprehensive exams in economics. It's time to stop dawdling and mind my panel.
